Extra Help in the Math Zone

Extra Help is offered in the Math Zone in Room 255 on Tuesday and Thursday at lunch time from 11:50 – 12:25.

The Math Zone is an area where students can go to receive help in their math learning, or work collaboratively with others to enhance their math learning.  This will be the primary source of extra help for Math at Bluefield. Students who are interested in helping and have been approved by math teachers will be available to help other students who utilize the Math Zone.

Math teachers will be in the room to facilitate the extra help and assist when needed. However, the primary goal will be to encourage students to become more independent and resourceful in working through challenging material with each other. This is an important skill as students prepare for their post- secondary education.

Occasionally unique situations may arise where one-on-one help with the teacher is required. The TEACHER will arrange a specific time to meet with the student. These students must demonstrate that they have been using class time wisely and have put forth a strong effort in completing their homework.

Private one-on-one tutoring is also available. Bluefield offers a peer tutoring program through Student Services (contact Ryan Brehaut  rtbrehaut@edu.pe.ca)  or a list of private tutors is available through the Public Schools Branch.
